The Next Big Thing
Wisconsin is home to some big events.
The world’s largest aviation expo, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture, is held in Oshkosh every summer, where 500,000 airplane enthusiasts from more than 60 countries transform Wittman Regional Airport into the busiest airport in the world for 7 days.
Milwaukee’s lakefront is host to Summerfest, the world’s largest music festival, with over 1,000 performances held over 11 days for almost 900,000 attendees.
Every fall over 70,000 dairy industry enthusiasts make the trip to Madison for the World Dairy Expo at the Alliant Energy Center. Designed for dairy producers and industry partners, the 5-day World Dairy Expo is the largest showcase for elite dairy cattle, cutting edge research and modern technologies.
Appleton is home to the nation’s oldest and largest Flag Day parade. An estimated 70,000 people from around the country line the parade route each year to watch up to 100 patriotic veterans' organizations, scout troops, floats, vehicles, walking groups, and marching bands.
The largest cranberry festival in the world is held in Warrens. A village with a population of roughly 360 people hosts over 120,000 visitors during the 3-day Warrens Cranberry Festival weekend.
Simply put – Wisconsin knows how to host a party. From festivals to tournaments to special events, the state is filled with people who love to help make big things happen. We’re able to do this because our residents have huge hearts and a gift for volunteering.
Our communities are rich with selfless folks who understand that big events often require creative solutions to unique situations. Where do 120,000 visitors park their cars? Where do 500,000 international airplane enthusiasts sleep? Where do you house 2,200 head of cattle in downtown Madison? What about waste management, security, first aid, drinking water, food, and shelter?
We not only want you to come for the big event, we want you to keep coming back, and the best way to make that happen is to ensure that you have a great time. Our enthusiastic volunteers pledge to help make your visit memorable and fun.
At the Warrens Cranberry Festival 250 volunteers come from each of the surrounding communities to work all three days, more than 400 people volunteer at the World Dairy Expo in positions ranging from tour group leaders to cattle check-in crew, and 5,000 volunteers come together prior to EAA’s AirVenture just to get the site ready for the event itself.
Wisconsin, with all its hospitable charm, can’t wait to host your next big thing. We’re here to help.
